Air Duct Cleaning in Winter Garden, FL
Winter Garden grew up on citrus and vegetable farms along Lake Apopka's south shore. Today most of its homes are far newer than its brick downtown, and they all run air conditioning hard through a long, humid summer. We connect Winter Garden homeowners with independent local air duct and HVAC companies for free, no-obligation quotes.

The City of Winter Garden dates its founding to 1903 and its incorporation to 1908, when A.B. Newton became the first mayor. The Orange Belt Railroad reached the area in 1886. In 1994 Orange County pulled up the Plant Street railroad tracks and replaced them with the West Orange Trail. According to the city and a Florida historical marker, the visitors the trail drew helped revive downtown, and 24 buildings in the commercial district were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
Census figures (ACS 2024 5-year) put the median home in Winter Garden at built in 2004, among the newest in the Orlando area, with 65.7% of homes owner-occupied. In Horizon West next door, the median build year is 2014.

Why a newer Winter Garden home can still need duct work
A 2004 or 2014 build isn't automatically trouble-free. Researchers at UCF's Florida Solar Energy Center tested new Central Florida homes and found significant duct leaks in most of them. A later FSEC study of homes built the year before found that air-handler cabinets let in about 6% of system airflow from the garage or attic.
Climate matters too. NOAA normals for Orlando International show about 110 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and summer dew points average above 70°F from June through September. The EPA calls condensation and high humidity "an important indicator of the potential for mold growth" in ducts.
In a newer home, the common jobs are often duct repair and sealing or keeping the AC condensate drain line flowing, rather than a full cleaning.
When whole-home duct cleaning makes sense
The EPA does not recommend routine air duct cleaning. It suggests considering it when one of these applies:
- Substantial visible mold growth inside hard-surface (sheet metal) ducts or on other system parts
- Ducts infested with vermin such as rodents or insects
- Ducts clogged with excessive dust and debris, or particles blowing out of supply registers
NADCA doesn't set a fixed schedule. It names moving into a new home, remodeling, pets, smoking and water damage as reasons to clean more often.
In Florida, duct cleaning that involves removing grilles and AC coil work is licensed air-conditioning contractor work. Ask for the company's CAC/CMC license number and check it at MyFloridaLicense.com. A county business tax receipt is not a license. This is general information, not legal advice. We don't do the work ourselves and aren't a contractor.
Winter Garden duct cleaning questions
My Winter Garden home was built after 2000. Do the ducts need cleaning?
Not necessarily. The EPA says to clean ducts only as needed, for example when there is substantial visible mold, vermin, or heavy dust and debris. Newer Central Florida homes more often have leaky ducts or air-handler cabinets. FSEC testing found significant duct leaks in most new homes it tested, so a duct leakage check may matter more than cleaning.
Does buying a newly built home in Horizon West change anything?
It can. NADCA lists moving into a new home and remodeling among the reasons to clean more often, and recommends that new systems be verified clean before they run. Construction dust can end up in the ducts. If you can see debris at the registers, ask a licensed AC contractor to show you the inside of the ducts before you agree to a cleaning.
How much does duct cleaning cost in Winter Garden?
Typical ranges from EPA and NADCA run $450 to $1,000 per system. Cost guides from HomeAdvisor and Fixr average about $389 to $500. Fixr puts a 2,000 sq ft home at about $300 to $700. These are estimates, not quotes. NADCA warns that $99 whole-house offers often leave out key parts of the system.
Who actually does the work if I request a quote?
Independent local air duct and HVAC companies do. We connect Winter Garden homeowners with them for free, no-obligation quotes. We don't do the work ourselves and aren't a contractor. Before you hire anyone, ask for the company's Florida CAC or CMC license number and check it at MyFloridaLicense.com.
